They may not have even stepped into a high school classroom yet, but Lethabo and Kemo have already accomplished more than many adults.

Developing their hobby into a successful enterprise, these Pretoria-based siblings have clients in over four provinces and three streams of income for their business.

While their success is a marvel, even more remarkable is that their childhood hasn’t been sacrificed. Neither are the girls precocious. They’re polite, friendly children with big smiles who don’t take themselves too seriously. Yet, with the unstinting support of their parents and their mother Puseletso’s active involvement in the business, they’re being groomed for a bright entrepreneurial future.

The brand and the business

Lethabo and Kemo run KL Jewelry, a jewellery designing and manufacturing business. Lethabo is the creative sister who makes the products, while Kemo manages the money. Puseletso, a business mentor and motivational speaker, is the brand ambassador and marketer.

They buy loose beads from suppliers and use them to create bracelets and necklaces in different designs, “It takes me less than two minutes to make one necklace,” says Lethabo. “My special trick is securing the knots three times.”
